Palermo
For those who do not want to miss out on the delights of the Mediterranean island’s capital, the wonderful city of Palermo is just a couple of hours away by car along an easy to drive highway.

The city can offer a whole host of monuments, fabulous squares, quaint alleyways, traditional markets, world-famous theatres and some botanical gardens.

If you are only there for a short visit, a wander around the historical centre with its “Quattro Canti”, Church of La Martorana, Palazzo dei Normanni and Piazza Pretoria is a must, as is a stroll along the chic Via Maqueda.

Monreale is just 8km from Palermo and its famous cathedral, a 12th century Benedictine abbey founded by William II and one of the most beautiful monuments in all of Italy, dominates the lush Conca d'Oro plain. If the weather is good, we can recommend taking a dip in the beautiful blue sea at Mondello.
