Siracusa
Situated in a wonderful position at the bottom of a charming bay and just 95km away from Taormina, Siracusa was one of the most important cities of Magna Grecia, proof of which can still be seen today in the city’s Greek monuments that may even outdo what you can find in modern day Greece.

Its Greek theatre, “Latomie” (ancient caves including the famous “ear of Dionysus”) and other ruins from this period are set against a wonderful archaeological park which can be easily visited on foot.

The old town with the island of Ortigia, is filled with quaint alleys and squares steeped in atmosphere where you can find a great number of traditional shops and local handicrafts. It also boasts some medieval and baroque buildings whose beauty is on a par with those of the famous town of Noto which lies just a few kilometres away.
